The House of Councillors decided yesterday at a plenary session on the establishment of a Research Committee on International Economy and Foreign Policy, which will discuss such things as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade talks. The newly created research committee selected Minoru Yanagida, a member of the Democratic Party of Japan, as its chairman.
Minoru Yanagida was elected in the Hiroshima constituency and served as justice minister. He is a graduate of the University of Tokyo. He is in his third term in the Upper House (after serving in the House of Representatives for two terms) He is 60 years old. (Democratic Party of Japan member)
