 The largest opposition Democratic Party of Japan invited NHK Chairman Katsuto Momii to its general affairs division meeting on Feb. 18. The purpose of the invitation was to have Momii explain NHK’s mid-term management plan, but DPJ participants used the meeting to criticize Momii for his remarks on the comfort women and other issues. At one point Momii grew angry, saying, “Don’t bother to summon me to discuss such things.”

 DPJ Diet Affairs Committee Chairman Jun Azumi, who once worked at NHK, criticized Momii at a press conference by saying, “In short, he has a personality defect.” Secretary General Yukio Edano indicated that the DPJ will go after him at budget committee sessions.
