Ahead of the retail electricity market’s complete liberalization scheduled for April next year, Hakuhodo Inc., an advertising and public relations company, conducted a survey across the nation. In the survey, respondents were asked whether they would like to change their currently contracted electricity supplier after liberalization. In response to this question, a total of 64.0% answered “yes.” Respondents were also asked, with multiple answers allowed, what factors they will consider when choosing an electricity supplier. In the breakdown of answers to this question, “low price” accounted for a total of 75.5%, topping all other answers.
The survey was conducted online in September last year, targeting a total of 1,000 persons from among men and women, aged 20s to 60s, across the nation. (Abridged)
