· To establish seamless Japan-U.S. cooperation


· To make it possible to utilize in peacetime the “coordination mechanism,” a bilateral consultative body for coordination of operations between Japan and the U.S.


· To newly establish “asset (equipment) protection” in which the SDF will protect the U.S. military when it engages in reconnaissance and surveillance for the defense of Japan


· To expand logistic support for the U.S. military when responding to a conflict that could have a serious impact on Japan’s peace (geographical restrictions removed)


· To specify Japan-U.S. cooperation for the defense of outlying islands in the event of an armed attack against Japan


· In situations that threaten Japan’s existence, the SDF will cooperate with the U.S. military in naval operations, including minesweeping by the SDF in sea lanes.


· To strengthen Japan-U.S. cooperation globally, including peacekeeping operations


· To enhance bilateral cooperation in space and cyberspace
