The government announced on May 22 that it has concluded a currency swap agreement with Singapore. When one of the two countries needs foreign currency, it will be able to exchange its own currency with U.S. dollars held by the other country. Japan and Singapore concluded a currency swap deal for the first time in 2003, but the deal expired in November 2011.
