U.S. reporter testified for Sankei journalist in Seoul

 The trial of Sankei Shimbun’s former Seoul bureau chief Tatsuya Kato who was indicted without arrest for allegedly writing an article defaming the South Korean President Park Guen-hye was held on June 29 at the Seoul Central District Court. A U.S. journalist as a witness for the defense testified regarding Kato’s article, “I don’t think the article constitutes defamation.” The Chosun Ilbo’s reporter whose article Kato quoted did not appear in court. He also did not appear in court for the last trial.
