In reference to the comprehensive agreement between Iran and six countries (the U.S., UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) on Iran’s nuclear issue, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said on July 15: “We welcome persistent efforts by the parties concerned. We will monitor the situation to see if the agreement will be firmly complied with.”

In reply to the question “With the easing of tensions between Iran and the West, will the mining of the Strait of Hormuz become less probable?,” Suga said, “The government is responsible for preparing for the worst case scenario,” emphasizing the importance of leaving the security-related bills unchanged.
