 Sankei Shimbun obtained a copy of the unpublished minutes of the hearing of Okinawa Prefectural Government (OPG) officials by the experts’ panel (chaired by Hiroshi Oshiro, former chairman of the Okinawa Bar Association) reviewing the landfill permit for the relocation of the Futenma Air Station to Henoko, Nago City. The minutes show that OPG officials involved with granting the reclamation permit did not recognize any flaws in the procedures and examination process. There were merely “differences of opinion” between the panel members and OPG officials on all points raised. (Abridged)
