Cabinet nonsupport tops support at 52%

 The Sankei Shimbun and Fuji News Network (FNN) jointly conducted a public opinion survey across the nation on July 18-19. The rate of public support for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his cabinet was 39.3%, down 6.8 percentage points from the last survey conducted June 27-28. The nonsupport rate was 52.6%, up 10.2 points. The Abe cabinet’s support and nonsupport rates switched places for the first time since the launch of his rebooted cabinet. In the breakdown of public support for political parties, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan stood at 33.7%, down 1.1 points from the last survey. The leading opposition Democratic Party of Japan dropped 0.7 points to 9.8%. (Abridged)
