 At a press conference on July 21, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida criticized Russian boarder guards’ seizure of a Japanese salmon and trout fishing boat, the No. 10 Hoko Maru, saying, “The seizure of the Japanese fishing boat near the Four Northern Islands is unacceptable.” At the same time, he emphasized: “From a humanitarian point of view, we have demanded the early return of the crew and the fishing boat. We will continue to do so.”
