Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga has decided to request from the government and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) headquarters as much as 300 billion yen for Okinawa’s development and promotion for FY 2016, the same amount the prefecture received for FY 2015, during a visit to Tokyo from August 5 to 7, a source close the prefectural government disclosed on July 27. Although the governor is fighting the government and LDP over the relocation of the U.S. military’s Futenma Air Station (Ginowan City) to Henoko in Nago City, he apparently wants the government’s cooperation on the development budget.
