The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications provided on Oct. 20 a total of 8 billion yen in the third tranche of government subsidies to nine political parties. The Japanese Communist Party did not apply for the subsidy as it opposes the subsidy system. The government subsidies are provided four times a year to political parties. The subsidies allotted to the nine political parties are as follows:
