Due to a fuss over split of the Japan Innovation Party (JIP), five JIP members in the House of Councillors, who have close ties with the party leadership, will inform the Upper House Secretariat on Oct. 27 that they will form a parliamentary group. Sukeshiro Terata will head the group. The five JIP members have decided to form the parliamentary group to counter the initiative of a parliamentary group called “Ishin no To (Japan Innovation Party)” in the Upper House led by a group of JIP Upper House members, who will join a new political party to be created by Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto.
