- Kodoku no Gurume is a Japanese cuisine manga series written by Masayuki Kusumi and illustrated by Jiro Taniguchi. A lonely businessman travels through Japan, eating at restaurants and experiencing local specialties. It has been adapted into a Japanese television drama series, which is now being aired every Friday night.
Hibana is the well-known first novel of Naoki Matayoshi, a Japanese comedian. The book won this year’s Akutagawa Prize, a Japanese literary award established in memory of author Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Matayoshi writes about laughter and the meaning of life. The novel has sold more than 2 million copies.
3. Oroka Monogatari by Ishin Nishio
Ishin Nishio is a novelist and manga writer. According to the author, this book is a story about three foolish girls.
4. Yokina Gangu wa Mittsu Kazoero by Kotaro Isaka

The author, Kotaro Isaka, says he hopes people will enjoy reading this book about an unrealistic bank robbery. Kotaro Isaka is often referred to as a mystery writer.
Takeshi Kitano, a famous Japanese director and comedian, says in this book that before moral education is introduced as an official school subject in 2018, adults should seriously think about Japanese morals.
