The Japan Innovation Party (JIP) decided on Nov. 17 to expel seven Diet members who have joined the new party “Osaka Ishin no Kai,” which is headed by Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto. The seven members include three House of Representatives members, Mikio Shimoji, Masami Kawano, and Tamotsu Shiiki, and four House of Councillors members, Kunihiko Muroi, Mitsuo Gima, Takayuki Shimizu and Takeshi Fujimaki. Meanwhile, the JIP accepted the resignations tendered by six Lower House members who had expressed their intentions to leave the party but have not joined Hashimoto’s party.
