The University of Tokyo topped the list in a college branding survey for the Tokyo metropolitan area for the first time in two years.

Nikkei BP Consulting conducted the survey and questioned business people and those who have children going to junior high school or higher educational institutes online about their images of 120 universities in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Responses were received from 6,630 people.

The University of Tokyo earned high scores for quality of research facilities and employment after graduation. Keio University slid to second place from the crown position last year. Waseda University came in third.

Outside Tokyo, Yokohama National University was ranked 15th. Chiba University came in 20th. Saitama University was ranked first for “contribution to region, society and culture.” (Abridged)
