On Dec. 3 at a press conference, Japan Innovation Party leader Yorihisa Matsuno emphasized that both the Democratic Party of Japan and Japan Innovation Party should be dissolved to form a new party, noting, “I will never join the present Democratic Party of Japan. I am asking them to form a new party with a different name next year.” Matsuno indicated the perception on the formation of a unified parliamentary coalition with the DPJ that “If the two parties merge, I want to call for other forces to join.”
