As part of its efforts to promote Cool Japan, an initiative which aims to inform the international community about Japanese culture, the government set up the Cool Japan Public-Private Partnership Platform on Dec. 15. The platform aims to encourage collaboration among the public and private sectors and among different industries, and it will support the creation of new businesses and overseas operations through partnerships among different industries. A total of 34 companies and organizations of such industries as film, publishing, and tourism participated.
