The Party for Future Generations renamed itself “Nihon no Kokoro wo Taisetu ni Suru Kai (party to cherish Japan’s spirit)” at its general assembly meeting held in the Diet building on Dec. 21.
It saw a drastic reduction in the number of its Diet members to four due to a setback in last year’s general elections. It had 22 members at its inauguration.
The party is looking to solidify its support base under the new name by playing up its conservative color.
