Deputy Secretary Blinken comments on comfort women pact

NHK reported on its website on Sunday that Deputy Secretary Blinken called on South Korean citizens groups to exercise restraint over the comfort women issue by saying that they should respect the spirit of the agreement. The network said that the senior USG official highly praised the agreement by saying it was the result of the efforts, courage, and vision of the leaders of both nations. He also reportedly said that the agreement can encourage Japan and South Korea to focus on other issues they have in common.

Meanwhile, concerning the Taiwanese presidential election, NHK’s evening news on Sunday reported that the Deputy Secretary expressed hope that China and Taiwan will continue their efforts to build peace and stability.
