NHK reported this morning that Foreign Minister Kishida delivered a speech in Tokyo on Tuesday, during which he announced that the GOJ will provide an additional 38.5 billion yen, or $350 million, for assistance to regions in Syria and Iraq that are no longer controlled by ISIL. The network said the aid will be used for restoring buildings, defusing explosives, and providing vocational training and education to residents who have returned to the regions. In addition, the network said the GOJ will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the regions in light of the harsh living conditions of internally displaced people and refugees.
