Tuesday evening’s Yomiuri ran an inside-page report on remarks made by Prime Minister Abe at an Upper House Budget Committee session on Tuesday, during which he commented on the TPP by saying: “South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and others have expressed strong interest in participating in the TPP since we reached a broad agreement on the framework last October. TPP is their goal in implementing economic reform.” The paper interpreted this remark to mean that the premier thinks the number of participants in the TPP will expand after the trade agreement goes into effect.
