According to an opinion poll administered on business operators by the Japan Economic Growth Forum (chaired by former Economic and Fiscal Policy Minister Hiroko Ota), an organization affiliated with the Japan Productivity Center, on their opinion of the TPP, the largest number of respondents opted for China as their choice for the next TPP participant.

Although some 90% of business operators had positive views of the TPP, the poll reveals that they were yet to fully grasp the merits of the TPP.

The poll was conducted in November 2015 on 3,875 business operators, receiving valid answers from 183 (representing an effective response rate of 4.7%)

The choice of business operators (who gave multiple answers) for the next TPP participant nation was China (18.5%), followed by Thailand (15.4%), Indonesia (14.7%), and the ROK (12.1%)

A total of 89.8% of the respondents viewed the TPP as “positive” or “positive to a certain extent.”
