On Feb. 23, Liberal Democratic Party Diet Affairs Committee Chairman Tsutomu Sato and his Democratic Party of Japan counterpart Yoshiaki Takagi agreed to put the fiscal 2017 budget bill and bills related to the fiscal 2017 budget to a vote separately at the House of Representatives Budget Committee and the Lower House plenary session on March 1. The fiscal 2017 budget bill will be sent to the House of Councillors on the same day after it is adopted at the Lower House plenary session. The budget is expected to be passed in the Diet before the end of this fiscal year (March 31) as stipulated in the Constitution. Sato and Takagi also agreed to hold intensive deliberations on Feb. 29 at the Lower House Budget Committee.
