The government has started looking into the possibility of exporting a Japanese transportation system to Nigeria. It will dispatch a research team there from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The team will look into whether Nigeria would be able to adopt a transportation system similar to the Yurikamome [an automated transit system in Tokyo] for a plan to build a transportation system spanning about 24 kilometers in Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria. Approximately 100 billion yen will likely be spent on the project. If Japanese companies win the contract for the project, the government will support them by offering yen loans. (Abridged)
