PM Abe and Saudi Arabia Shura Council Speaker confirm cooperation for Middle East stability

 On March 8, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met Speaker of the Shura Council Abdullah Al-Sheikh of Saudi Arabia at the Prime Minister’s Office [Kantei]. They confirmed that they would work together for stability in the Middle East, with measures to counter the extremist group Islamic State (IS) in mind.

 

 The Japanese Prime Minister said, “Japan shares a long relationship with [Saudi Arabia] in the area of energy supply, and I would like to further strengthen our ties.” The Shura Council Speaker replied, “We would like to expand our cooperation [with Japan] to a variety of fields.”
