According to the program, although the number of Yamaguchi-gumi members was originally about 23,400 before the split, it has dropped to 14,100. The Kobe-Yamaguchi-gumi took about 6,100 members and is gaining momentum. The program interviewed a former senior member of Yamaguchi-gumi, who said that while the Yamaguchi-gumi originally responded calmly to the split, it is becoming increasingly frustrated and impatient with the new group.
