U.S. to slap sanctions on senior DPRK officials over human rights violations

Today’s Asahi reported that the Obama administration is likely to impose sanctions on about ten DPRK officials on account of human rights violations, noting that they have allegedly been involved in running political prisons in the reclusive state.  The step will reportedly be taken to showcase the U.S. commitment to protecting the human rights of DPRK citizens given that concern has been raised that the latest USNC sanctions resolution will have adverse effects on the lives of ordinary people in North Korea.
