This morning’s Okinawa Times wrote that arrangements are being made for Okinawa Governor Onaga to hold talks with Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga in Tokyo on May 9, projecting that the Okinawa leader is likely to ask that measures to shore up the Okinawa economy be included in the GOJ’s “big-boned” economic policy to be updated shortly. The governor is also expected to call for the central government to make additional efforts to facilitate the use of the reverted land previously occupied by the U.S. military Nishi-Futenma Housing complex.
