Abe still mulling double election

Yomiuri wrote that although during a press event yesterday PM Abe once again dismissed speculation that he plans to dissolve the Lower House for a snap election to coincide with the summer Upper House race, his close associates are insisting that the premier is still considering a possible “double election” in the belief that the LDP would be able to capture more seats than if an Upper House race were held on its own. The daily said that whether Abe makes a political gambit will largely depend on progress in earthquake reconstruction in Kumamoto over the next several weeks.
