Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga expressed a certain level of appreciation for the work begun by the government to remove floats and oil fences off the coast of Henoko, Nago.

“This is one of the requests made by the prefectural office at a working group session on the out-of-the-court settlement [reached with the central government] regarding a lawsuit seeking the withdrawal of the revocation of reclamation approval,” said Onaga before reporters at the prefectural office on April 30. “I appreciate this move to a certain extent.”

He also stressed: “We will continue to demand that the government remove the buoys and anchorages placed for drilling work, panels built around a temporary road for construction, and the off-limits ban and other restrictions.” (Abridged)
