Saturday morning’s Asahi wrote that three Taiwanese ships, including a coast guard patrol boat, appear to have entered Japan’s exclusive economic zone around the country’s southernmost island of Okinotorishima. When meeting with Taiwanese President Ma in Taipei on Thursday, LDP lawmaker Nobuo Kishi, the younger brother of PM Abe, reportedly demanded that the ships be withdrawn from the vicinity by saying: “Japan cannot accept Taiwan’s claim that the island is a rock.”
