Young lawmakers not interested in parliamentary exchanges with China, ROK

Saturday morning’s Yomiuri took up a recent tour of South Korea and China by a supra-partisan Japanese parliamentary delegation led by LDP Vice President Komura, saying that 7 of the 11 participants were veteran lawmakers. Since parliamentary exchanges with the two Asian partners are being spearheaded by older politicians, the paper expressed concern that many junior legislators are not interested in “neighborhood diplomacy” since it involves sensitive history issues and their constituents are largely indifferent to the subject especially in elections.
