Russian Presidential Aid Ushakov announced that President Putin will invite Prime Minister Abe to the Eastern Economic Forum during the top-level meeting on Friday. The forum is scheduled to take place in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok on September 2nd and 3rd, Russian media reported.

Ushakov said about Putin’s visit to Japan: “We are prepared,” and waiting for the Japanese side to present the actual date. He explained that although the Northern Territory issue will be discussed during the leaders’ meeting on Friday, continued discussions will be required between the Japanese and Russian foreign ministries. They will try to arrange a meeting of vice-ministers as early as June.
