President Obama to emphasize importance of U.S.-Japan alliance in Hiroshima

Concerning President Obama’s planned visit to Hiroshima later this month, NHK quoted White House Press Secretary Earnest as telling reporters on Thursday: “At this point, I don’t have much to say about the President’s remarks in Hiroshima…That will be an opportunity for him in a rather solemn place to share his reflections on having the opportunity to visit this site.” The press secretary also said the President will probably talk about the importance of U.S.-Japan relations, pointing out that the two nations which were at war about 70 years ago are now cooperating on various issues.
