Ambassador Kennedy learns about bonsai from high school students

Mainichi reporAmBonsaiMainichi20160513ted that a group of 11 students from Tokyo Metropolitan Horticultural High School visited the Ambassador’s residence on Thursday and gave lessons in English to Ambassador Kennedy and other Embassy staff on how to cultivate bonsai trees. The Ambassador participated in a dogwood planting ceremony at the school last year, and selections from the school’s bonsai collection have been displayed at the residence since then. The Ambassador was quoted as telling the students that she was impressed with their sincere interest in Japanese culture and hopes they will teach American students how to cultivate bonsai in the future.
