Yomiuri wrote that in its recent joint public opinion survey with a South Korean daily on last year’s Japan-ROK agreement on the issue of comfort women, 49% of Japanese respondents welcomed the accord, while 38% did not. However, in Korea, 21% welcomed it but 73% did not. Strong dissatisfaction among the Korean people may affect the Japanese and ROK governments’ implementation of the agreement.
