Survivors to call for U.S. review of damage caused by Bikini H-bomb test

Mainichi wrote that a group of Japanese fishermen who filed a lawsuit against the GOJ on May 9 to seek compensation over the U.S. hydrogen bomb tests conducted on Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands in 1954 plan to send a letter requesting President Obama re-examine the damage the tests caused to their health. The group decided to send the letter in response to the President’s decision to visit Hiroshima and plans to send it via the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo later this month. The group plans to ask the President to put together specific measures to reduce the number of nuclear weapons and take up nuclear disarmament at the upcoming G7 summit.
