Monday morning’s Tokyo Shimbun gave top play to the sharp increase in the number of joint research projects between the Defense Ministry and colleges and other institutions, including JAXA, expressing concern that increased exchanges between the military and academia may lead to university professors and students proactively conducting R&D on military technology. The paper explained that the Abe administration encourages greater defense-academia partnership.
