All papers front-paged a decision made yesterday by four opposition parties, including the DP and the JCP, to submit to the Lower House a no-confidence motion against the Abe cabinet today to hold it responsible for destroying constitutionalism by enacting the comprehensive security legislation and practicing “high-handed” political management. The ruling coalition, however, plans to vote it down without delay. The dailies said the opposition bloc is desperate to play up its confrontational stance toward the administration prior to the July Upper House election out of frustration that its performance at the Diet has received limited press coverage lately since the local media’s attention has been focused on the G7 Ise-Shima Summit and President Obama’s Hiroshima visit.
