Selection of job applicants starts by major corporations belonging to the Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) starts on Wednesday June 1. It is a seller’s market, like last year. Small to medium size companies are already making informal employment decisions and big corporations, also eager to hire new graduates, have started to offer early unofficial promises of employment.

Some students have received multiple offers of employment and some universities even held a seminar to instruct students what to do after being presented with an informal job offer, and how to politely decline other offers.

Many companies are issuing unofficial decision of employment earlier this year, according to the director of HR Research Center, Takuya Kurita. “After June 1,” he said, “a lot of major employers will promptly make informal employment offers.” (Abridged)
