Japan to double investment in clean energy R&D in five years

Asahi and Mainichi wrote that METI Minister Hayashi expressed Japan’s plans to double its spending on research and development for next-generation clean energy technology to around 90 billion yen by fiscal 2021. The minister announced the plan during a ministerial meeting on Mission Innovation held in San Francisco on Wednesday, in which 20 countries, including the U.S., Japan, and China, participated. Asahi wrote that Japan will seek to implement the COP21 Paris agreement by supporting the development of new energy technologies.
