NTV reported at noon that the people of Okinawa are outraged by the latest drunk-driving incident involving a U.S. military service member, quoting one of them as saying that the U.S. military has been talking about preventing crimes and tightening discipline for 50 years, but nothing will change as long as U.S. forces are in Okinawa. The network said criticism of U.S. forces is increasing since the accident occurred after all U.S. service members and civilian employees were prohibited to drink off-base.
