TV Asahi reported at noon that the USFJ Commander Dolan released a statement on Sunday in which he expressed his deep regrets and heartfelt sympathy to the victims and their families in the recent drunk-driving accident caused by a U.S. sailor belonging to Kadena AB. The statement also reportedly said Lt. Gen. Dolan had a telephone conversation with Ambassador Kennedy and an emergency meeting with senior USFJ officials. During the meeting, the officials reportedly decided to tighten discipline and confirmed that the USFJ will cooperate with the GOJ if any illegal conduct occurs.
