Nishikawa to become vice minister of the Cabinet Office

The Cabinet Office has finalized the appointment of Masao Nishikawa, 58, councillor of the Cabinet Secretariat, to replace Vice Minister Kenji Matsuyama, 63, who will step down. It will officially announce the appointment following a cabinet meeting.


Nishikawa previously worked at the former Economic Planning Agency (EPA) and has served in such positions as director of the personnel section and president of the Economic and Social Research Institute. He has held the position of councillor of the Cabinet Secretariat since July 2015. He will be the fourth person from the EPA to serve as vice minister of the Cabinet Office since the establishment of the office.
