Japanese Minister of the Environment Tamayo Marukawa met with Chinese Minister of Environmental Protection Chen Jining in Beijing on June 7. During their talks, they confirmed they would promote technological cooperation for the measures to address fine particle (PM2.5) air pollution that they had decided upon during their previous meeting held in April in Shizuoka City. They also agreed to search for ways for their two nations to work together regarding such matters as China’s soil pollution, nuclear power plant safety, and climate change, including global warming.
