The government nailed down details on Tuesday of a new fund established to support children from low-income households. The fund will provide up to 500 million yen each to organizations that implement projects to help children in poverty. The government will publicly seek applications from organizations starting on June 27 and start providing subsidies in the fall.

The subsidies will be available for incorporated nonprofit organizations, public interest corporations, and volunteer organizations.
