On NHK’s “Nichiyo Toron” on Sunday, LDP Election Strategy Committee Chairman Motegi stated that in the July Upper House election the ruling coalition would like to ask the Japanese people whether or not they want the government to continue promoting Abenomics to boost the Japanese economy. Komeito Election Strategy Committee Chairman Saito said that the election will be a choice between a government run by a group that respects democracy and freedom or a faction that seeks a socialist or communist revolution. Democratic Party’s Gemba criticized Abenomics for expanding economic disparities. He stated that the new security laws will be a major campaign issue because they represent Japan’s choice to become a nation that can fully exercise its right to collective defense.
