All papers front-paged reports on an announcement on Tuesday by major Japanese travel agency JTB saying that personal information on as many as 7.93 million people may have been leaked due to unauthorized access to its server. The information includes customer names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, and passport numbers. Around 4,300 of the passports are still valid. No misuse of the data has been confirmed. The information was apparently stolen from the server of i.JTB, a company in the JTB group, after an employee’s computer was infected with a virus when the worker opened an email attachment in March.
