Yamada to become first woman to serve as director-general of Minister’s Secretariat

On June 14, the government decided at a cabinet meeting on appointments to senior official posts in the ministries and agencies.

 

The number of female officials serving in the post of director or higher will total 31, up 4.7% from 28 last year. In the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Global ICT Strategy Bureau Director General Makiko Yamada will be promoted to the post of director general of the Minister’s Secretariat. Yamada will become the first Japanese woman to serve as director-general of a Minster’s Secretariat. (Abridged)
